With so many beautiful designer fabrics out there, our website may not be showing a particular colourway, design or pattern which you had in mind to suit your interior design project. But fear not, Dearest Violet Eiderdowns offers a bespoke service for both home owners and interior design companies.
I can make your eiderdown using your own purchased fabric. Customers are responsible for sourcing and purchasing the outer fabrics. Please do not hesitate to contact me on 07398 361542 if you need any advice...I'm always happy to help.
When choosing your materials, be aware that not all fabrics are best suited for eiderdowns. Quilting cottons, medium weight cottons & linens work best (heavier weight fabrics work but will reduce the loft of your eiderdown).
Payment for your eiderdown is made when it is ready for posting, currently 8 weeks from receipt of fabric.
Available in five standard sizes:
Single: 110cm x 160cm (43" x 63") - £250
Small Double: 125cm x 160cm (49" x 63") - £325
Double: 145cm x 160cm (57" x 63") - £360
King: 160cm x 160cm (63" x 63") - £470
Super King: 183cm x 170cm (72" x 67") - £580
Should you require an eiderdown other than in a standard size please ask. Larger eiderdowns can be made.
Frills/pleated edges can be made but will, of course, require more fabric and there is an additional fee per eiderdown as follows:
Single: Pleats £40 - Frills £55
Small Double: Pleats £50 - Frills £65
Double: Pleats £60 - Frills £75
King: Pleats £70 - Frills £85
Super King: Pleats £80 - Frills £95
Some fabrics do not frill easily. If this is the case then I will make a small pleated edging (please see images).
Your handmade English feather & down eiderdown will be made in the traditional way, soft, plump and made to last for generations.
Fabric requirements will vary depending on width of fabric, pattern repeats & eiderdown size. A general guide for plain or small patterned fabric is shown below.

With the exception of eiderdowns in stock, my eiderdowns are made to order so please be aware that dispatch will be in approximately 8 weeks. I will let you know when your order is ready to post. I use a fully tracked service and a signature is required on delivery.

Materials - My eiderdowns are made using a a natural eco-friendly sustainable feather & down mix, compliant with standard BS EN 12935. There are two layers of fabric, the top decorative layer and the very important cotton cambric layer that holds the feather & down in place.
Each eiderdown is handmade and filled by me in my Devon studio. I use the best quality fabrics, feather & down and strong threads to produce a timeless eiderdown that will stay warm, plump and last for generations.
Caring for your eiderdown - On delivery, to restore your eiderdowns loft, it will need a little "plumping", much like you would do with a feather pillow.
Over time, you may find that the feather & down migrate to the bottom of the eiderdown so I recommend that you rotate your eiderdown regularly to allow the feathers & down to evenly distribute. Again a little plumping from time to time will help with this.

Summer weight eiderdowns - Summer weight eiderdowns are available in all of our beautiful fabrics. Fewer feathers and square/rectangular pockets are used to create a lighter, cooler eiderdown whilst retaining the look of traditional English bedding. Please email me if you would like this option after purchase.

I do my best to represent my eiderdowns as accurately as possible but I appreciate that purchasing online can be difficult. If you need a fabric swatch to check the colour/fabric, please do contact me and I'll pop them in the post.

My pricing: My website displays prices in £GBP. You will need to use an online currency convertor to get a price in your currency.
Your country's importation laws: It is a legal requirement for me to fill out Customs forms accurately. You may be charged a customs fee & vat fee on importation to your country. Please do check these before placing your order.
Delivery: Please bear in mind that the courier I use will only attempt delivery 2, possibly 3 times, before they begin returning your eiderdown to me so it is important that you check the delivery status of your parcel (I will be doing this too). That way, if the courier encounters a problem, we can quickly get it sorted without incurring additional costs.
Returns: I really do want you to be happy with your order so if you are not completely satisfied or have any concerns, please contact me immediately. Returns must be made within a certain time frame that we can agree dependant on your country. Eiderdowns must be in a new/unused condition. All postage fees are at the buyers cost so do ask if you need a fabric sample before purchase. If there is a genuine fault with the product, I will replace or refund.
Bespoke custom sized eiderdowns are non returnable, so please take care with your measuring.
Acknowledgement & acceptance of order: I will notify you by e-mail to confirm receipt of your order, however acceptance of your order will take place upon dispatch of the product(s) ordered and I will e-mail you again to confirm dispatch.
Accuracy of content: I take every care to ensure information on this site is accurate; however some prices or details shown on the website may change from time to time and it is possible that errors will occur. I will endeavour to rectify any errors as swiftly as possible. Should an error occur you will be given the option of either (a) confirming your offer to purchase subject to the correct description or price or (b) retracting your offer and receiving a full refund if the goods have been paid for.
