My original filling blend, refined over many years of making. The Classic eiderdown is thoughtfully filled with a carefully balanced blend of down and feathers to create an eiderdown that feels reassuring, cosy, and naturally warm. This fill is perfect for all fabric weights. 

Heritage Eiderdown (90% down/10% small feather)  ~ Lightness & Loft

The Heritage eiderdown is designed for those who seek exceptional lightness combined with luxurious warmth. Filled with a higher ratio of fine down, it offers increased loft and a soft, airy feel that gently rests on the body.  The Heritage fill works best with lighter/medium weight fabrics, hence, I do not offer this on all of my fabric eiderdowns.

Craftsmanship & Materials

Each eiderdown is made using a natural, eco-friendly and sustainable feather and down blend, fully compliant with BS EN 12935 standards.

Two layers of fabric are used: a decorative outer layer, and a carefully chosen cotton cambric inner layer. This inner layer is essential, as it securely holds the feather and down in place while allowing the eiderdown to breathe naturally.

Every eiderdown is handmade and filled by me in my Devon studio. I work with the finest quality fabrics, feather and down, and strong, durable threads to create a timeless piece designed to remain warm, plump, and beautiful for generations.

On delivery, your eiderdown may need a little gentle “plumping” to restore its natural loft, much like you would with a feather pillow.

Over time, the feather and down may naturally settle towards the lower end. I recommend rotating your eiderdown regularly to help the filling redistribute evenly. Occasional plumping will help maintain its shape and comfort.

Hello, I’m Lucy, and I run Dearest Violet Eiderdowns. The name comes from my dear mum, whose middle name was Violet, Joyce Violet Vincent Street, to be precise, and it felt like the perfect way to honour her.

Each eiderdown is handmade and individually filled by me in my Devon studio. I work with the finest quality fabrics, feather and down, and strong, durable threads to create eiderdowns that stay beautifully warm and plump. Every piece is fully lined to keep the filling securely in place, and carefully piped to give it a timeless, classic finish - made to be used, loved, and last for generations.

As the great Victorian designer William Morris once said,
“Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.”

I think that sums up my eiderdowns rather nicely, both useful and beautiful.

Returns
I really do want you to be happy with your order so if you are not completely satisfied or have any concerns, please contact me immediately. Returns must be made within 7 days of delivery and be in a new/unused condition. All postage fees are at the buyers cost so do ask if you need a fabric sample before purchase. If there is a genuine fault with the product, I will replace or refund.

Bespoke custom sized eiderdowns are non returnable, so please take care with your measuring.

Acknowledgement & acceptance of order
I will notify you by e-mail to confirm receipt of your order, however acceptance of your order will take place upon dispatch of the product(s) ordered and I will e-mail you again to confirm dispatch.

Accuracy of content
I take every care to ensure information on this site is accurate; however some prices or details shown on the website may change from time to time and it is possible that errors will occur. I will endeavour to rectify any errors as swiftly as possible. Should an error occur you will be given the option of either (a) confirming your offer to purchase subject to the correct description or price or (b) retracting your offer and receiving a full refund if the goods have been paid for.

International Buyers (NON_UK)

My website will, hopefully, display my prices in your currency so no need for a currency convertor.

Your country's importation laws:  It is a legal requirement for me to fill out Customs forms accurately.  You may be charged a customs fee & vat fee on importation to your country.  Please do check these before placing your order.

USA customers - please be aware of the new changes from August 2025 - you WILL BE charged customs fees of 10% on importation. 

Delivery: Please bear in mind that the courier I use will only attempt delivery 2, possibly 3 times, before they begin returning your eiderdown to me so it is important that you check the delivery status of your parcel (I will be doing this too). That way, if the courier encounters a problem, we can quickly get it sorted without incurring additional costs.
